If you ever find yourself overseas in an English speaking country and you are trying to get to a local supermarket but you desire to show your manners, there are a number of polite expressions you can say.

For example,

Can you please tell me how to get to the closest supermarket?
Excuse me, do you know where the local grocery store is?
Would you please give me directions to the closest store?
Is there any chance you could show me the location of your nearest supermarket?

These are all good replies.

Polite things to say after meeting someone!

Person 1:Nice to meet you!
Person 2:Nice to meet you too! / You too! / Likewise! / The pleasure was all mine.

Ways to show politeness when someone tells you thank you!

Person 1: Thank you
Person 2: You're welcome./ No problem! /No worries! / You're fine! /You're okay/ My pleasure!

I hope these expressions are very helpful for you as you travel overseas.
